As a student, I engage with a broad range of individuals who have diverse morals, ethics, histories, and objectives. Students must cooperate and treat their coworkers respectfully if they want to complete a task successfully and receive a good grade. If they do not, the assignment may fail, and the submitted work will reflect this. One of the essential lessons in civility is the nurse’s key role in building a culture of respect in clinical practice and nursing education. I play a significant role in the multidisciplinary team as the patient’s defender and advocate. Unlike other healthcare professionals, I remain in constant contact with the patient. This position is crucial because I often know more about the patient than others on the team. To ensure quality patient care, I must work cooperatively with all members of the healthcare team.</p> <h2>Comparative Evaluation of Communication Practices in Interprofessional Team Meetings</h2> <p>The two assigned case scenario videos use different communication styles. Both involve an interprofessional team meeting discussing the case of a patient, Mr. Potter, who is about to be discharged. In the first video, the case manager explains the purpose of the meeting, which is to discuss a specific patient admitted to the facility and nearing discharge (Creighton University, 2013). However, the team members do not introduce themselves. In contrast, in the second video, the team leader allows each healthcare professional to introduce themselves and state their role. Introduction is a critical component of effective communication.</p> <p>Additionally, in the first video, the case manager provides limited information about the patient’s history and allows other professionals to explain their interactions with the patient (Creighton University, 2013). In the second video, the case manager takes a more active role by guiding the discussion and providing detailed information about the patient, which helps structure the meeting more effectively.</p> <h2>Implications of Effective Communication for Patient Care and Team Efficiency</h2> <p>Effective communication has a significant impact on patient care. It is essential for improving patient outcomes, as healthcare professionals must maintain clear and consistent communication to understand the patient’s condition and progress. Through effective communication, medical professionals can address patient concerns accurately and evaluate the outcomes of treatments or procedures.
